Rope Rescue Operations

Description: The Rope Rescue Operations course is an intensive, hands-on 40-hour Level I Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) program designed to provide participants with essential rope rescue skills. Students will learn to safely package and move patients from elevated or below-grade environments to treatment and transport areas using fundamental rope systems and techniques. Training includes rescue knots, anchor systems, raising and lowering operations, rappelling, ascending, patient packaging, and Stokes basket handling. Emphasis is placed on safety, redundancy of systems, belay operations, and understanding the limitations of rope rescue equipment. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1670 (2009 edition) standards for Rope Rescue Operations. Successful completion awards participants a FLUSAR Rope Rescue Operations Level certificate.
